Our work and projects are to be conducted and accomplished in a manner that allows these communities and orphanages to hopefully become self-sustaining, and possibly themselves start generating some part of their income.
The long term aim is to create the conditions and culture such that orphans who have benefited from orphanages and Orphans in Need projects, are themselves motivated and encouraged to 'put something back' into the orphanages, and also wider society in general. This could be in the form of financial support, voluntary work or trusteeship, and is especially the case for those who are educated by the charity to a professional level, or who succeed in business or any other field. |

Orphans in Need realises that the path out of poverty begins with the community themselves. In order for them to become self sufficient, impoverished people need improved resources and diversified skills. Hence Orphans in Need as a policy will employ carers from the immediate locality, and will put emphasis on the teaching of new skills to the widows and women in the area. Our aim is to teach those skills such as Sewing, needle, arts, crafts, cooking, raising crops and keeping livestock. They would be paid for their efforts, and the proceeds from the sales would go towards financing the orphanage. In this manner we hope to make the orphanages resourceful and innovative, teach the local populace some skills or trade, and hopefully augment the income of the orphanage through these means. |
