Orphans in Need will concentrate on providing:
i) Literacy classes - we value the diversity and culture of all the different communities we work with.
We teach orphans and widow to not only converse and write in their own language, but also to do the same in the English language. This approach gives the community it's own feeling of belonging, whilst enhancing their ability to become part of the global family.
ii) Numeracy - An understanding of basic numeracy can have a major impact on rural communities. It stops any chance of unfair trade practices and advantage being taken off the people. A better understanding of commerce and knowledge of weights and measures will all positively affect diet, crop yields and efficiency in the practices and methods used by the rural community.
iii) Vocational courses - Orphans in Need also arrange courses to teach people about:
• Land Management
• Conservation awareness
• Diet and nutrition
• Crop rotation and other practices beneficial to increasing yields
• Family health and hygiene practices
